St. Catherine Municipal Corporation “Day of Care” for the Homeless was a success

St. Catherine Municipal Corporation “Day of Care” for the Homeless was a success

In recognition of National Homeless Day, the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation – Poor Relief Department hosted a “Day of Care” for the homeless at the Homeless Shelter, 13 Monk Street, Spanish Town, St. Catherine on October 10, 2019.

It was an afternoon of shared love, fun and excitement for the homeless persons who socialized, ate and danced to their hearts’ content. The event could not have been a success without the assistance of the Ministry of Health, Red Cross Jamaica and Children First who came on board and provided free services which included blood pressure and blood sugar tests and hair grooming for the men and women. They were also given care packages and cooked meals donated by churches and restaurants within the Spanish Town area.

His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Norman Scott brought greetings and presented certificates to the Agencies and persons who provided services to the homeless on the day.

The St. Catherine Municipal Corporation extends sincere thanks to the Agencies who took the time out to be a part of the event. Special thanks is extended to our sponsors Lasco Distributors Limited, Food for the Poor, Grace Kennedy Group Limited, Jamaica Biscuit Company Limited, Irie Jerk Restaurant, Tastee Jamaica, Jamandas Restaurant, churches and all groups for their support and contribution towards the vulnerable within our society.
