HAPPY INDEPENDENCE FROM THE ST. CATHERINE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
As we celebrate 179 years of full freedom from enslavement as well as 55 years of independence from British colonizers, we give God thanks that as an independent nation we are free to govern ourselves and to determine our political, social, cultural, economic and religious destiny.
Jamaica is indeed blessed with so many things which cause the world to stop and take notice. We are proud of our Reggae Boys in reaching a second consecutive CONCACAF Gold Cup Final and we look forward to our athletes performing well at the World Championships in London.
On this Independence Day, in the midst of our celebration, let us take time out to care of one another. Let us act responsibly toward each other and show love, appreciation and concern for everyone and everything around us, especially our environment.
