Thetford Cemetery Progress Update
In 2018 the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation opened the Thetford Park Cemetery to increase the availability of public burial spaces within the parish. Thetford Park’s modern concept offers a variety of interment options such as:
- Single tier
- Double tier
- Inurnment
- Reserved Plots
- Chapel rental
Burials at Thetford Park are more organized, all plots are referenced using a Geographic Referencing System (GIS) and entered into a database for proper recordkeeping. This will ensure that loved ones can be easily located in the future.
This modern facility makes the burial process less burdensome on families in their time of grief. To date we have carried out over 150 burial activities.
The Municipality also wants to highlight the Columbarium Garden - another upcoming feature that will be added to the Park. The Columbarium will provide a more cost effective option to inter using urns, which will be placed in an organized storage area where they can be easily identified.
We thank all funeral directors and families who have supported this new venture and we look forward to their continued support.
This cemetery is located on 25 acres and is located at: Thetford Farms, St. Catherine, approximately 2.8 km from the town of Old Harbour and 0.2 km from the Church Pen Community.
