Youth Mayors Lauded for Contribution to Local Government Development Process
 
Youth Mayors from across the island were on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 lauded by Local Government Minister, Hon. Desmond Mckenzie for their desire to participate in and contribute to one of the country’s most important phases of development, the Local Government process.  He said he was impressed with the presentations they made this year and he will be implementing at least two of the suggestions that they put forward at the Youth Mayors’ Forum on Thursday, November 22 at the Clarendon Municipal Corporation.  He also said he would announce the two suggestions to be implemented within the Infirmaries on Saturday, December 01, 2018 at the Awards Ceremony for volunteers to the Poor Relief System.
 
The Minister will further engage Youth Mayors’ to join him at the St. Ann and Clarendon Municipal Corporation Infirmaries in December where the residents will be specially treated for Christmas.
 
The Minister was speaking at a Luncheon he held in Youth Mayors’ honor at the Spanish Court Hotel, Kingston.
 
Earlier that day they made a Courtesy Call on the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Peter Phillips. Youth Mayor of Spanish Town, Javaughn Gordon was accompanied by Councillor Claude Hamilton, representing Mayor of Spanish Town.
 
The Youth Mayors’ Luncheon and Courtesy Call is part of the activities for Local Government and Community Month.
