The National Heroes Day Civic and Awards Ceremony
The National Heroes Day Civic and Awards Ceremony held in the Emancipation Square of Spanish Town was indeed a spectacular and inspiring event.
The ceremony was held to honour and commemorate our national heroes and heroine who have made invaluable contributions to the development of the nation through their strength, service, sacrifices and dedication.
The schools and uniformed groups also played a significant role by paying tribute to the heroes and heroine through floral arrangements, citations and performances, which added a rich and cultural touch to the ceremony.
We had the respected honour of recognizing eleven (11) outstanding Jamaicans who have made remarkable contributions to the advancement of the parish in various fields of endeavour.
Among the awardees was Khadija “Bunny” Shaw who was awarded in the category of Youth and Sports for her role in transforming women's football in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean.
