BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH IS OCTOBER 01 TO 31

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we borrowed from a helpful guide about breast health to every woman/man who requests it:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide and the second-most common cancer overall.
 
Symptoms of breast cancer in women
 
Swelling of all or part of the breast
Skin irritation or dimpling
Breast pain
Nipple pain or the nipple turning inward
Redness
Scaliness
Thickening of the nipple or breast skin
A nipple discharge other than breast milk
A lump in the underarm area. 
 These are all that may or may not appear
 
Breast cancer is about 100 times less common among men than among women. For men, the lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000
Most Noticeable Symptoms of breast cancer in Men
Breast lumps or swelling m
 Nipple inversion. 
 Nipple discharge (sometimes bloody). 
A pain or pulling sensation in the breast. 
Skin puckering or dimpling. 
Scaliness or redness of the breast skin or the nippleBreast cancer shows no discrimination.  It attacks the young, the old, male and female.
The pink intertwined ribbon represents those who fight the battle.
 It’s a means of showing and gaining encouragement and support.
Different ways to prevent cancer
Avoid things known to cause cancer
Take medicine to treat a precancerous condition or to keep cancer from starting
Change lifestyle or eating habits 
 
Regular exercise and a healthy diet may be protective factors for some types of cancer. We implore you to eat healthy, exercise, and do your yearly mammogram. And to show your support, be sure to wear a pink pin this October!!
