ST. CATHERINE PARISH COUNCIL COMMUNITY FORUM APPRECIATION

Approximately fifteen (15) Agencies were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for having supported and participated in the St. Catherine Parish Council series of Community Forums.

An event was hosted in their honor on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Jewels International Resorts, Portmore, St. Catherine, under the patronage of the Chairman, Councillor Norman Scott, Mayor of Spanish Town, and Mr. Michael Morris, Secretary/Manager.
Several Parish Council Department Heads and Councillors were also in attendance, as they too significantly aided in making the community interventions the success they have been.

The Mayor in his address commended the agency representatives for having made the commitment each week, Mondays and Wednesdays after work hours all in the name of dedication to service. He made particular reference to the Social Development Commission who is foremost in organizing community efforts and has been continuously working within communities in the parish. The Jamaica Public Service Company and National Water Commission among others were mentioned as having done well and are continuously doing well within communities. He implored them all to keep up the good work.

The Mayor said the Council values the partnership developed with the Agencies over the years and as we continue to work collaboratively in our bid to serve the parish, we should do so vehemently in order that much more can be achieved. He said he looks forward to an even enhanced relationship going forward.

The Community Forums are geared towards identifying some of the challenges communities within the parish are faced with and for citizens to have a better rapport with the Parish Council as the Local Planning Authority as well other Agencies within the parish. The meetings are held between the months of January to June, commencing at 6:00 p.m.
