THETFORD PARK CEMETERY OPENS FOR BURIALS IN AUGUST 2018

Despite multiple delays due to restricted funds, bad weather, among other things, the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation owned Thetford Park Cemetery has at last given deceased citizens of St. Catherine a fresh and modern final resting place.

Burials were not expected to commence until all amenities were installed and implemented; however over three (3) remains were interred earlier in August, just so the Corporation could point out noticeable hiccups or irregularities and correct them prior to announcing its official opening to the public.  

Come Monday, August 27, 2018, a centenarian, Lillian Barker will be laid to rest there.  The Corporation thought it prudent to use this day, to create public interest and awareness, and to mark the birthing of the Corporation’s dream and milestone, to have a well managed final place of rest for the citizenry of St. Catherine.

The funeral service for Ms. Barker which will be undertaken by Whitter and Son’s Funeral Home is scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m.  The body is expected to be interred at Thetford Park Cemetery by 2:30 p.m.
