Mayor Norman Scott Supports Food for the Poor (Jamaica) Summer Band Camp 2018

Music was in the air as Food for the Poor (FFP) Jamaica, hosted its Summer Band Camp Graduation, on the grounds of their offices located at Ellerslie Pen, Spanish Town on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

Band Camp is an annual summer occurrence where several young persons are trained within a fairly brief period, (16) days this time around, to play various instruments including the flute, clarinet trombone, drum and saxophone.

The St. Catherine Municipal Corporation played an integral role by donating the trophies which were presented to the outstanding participants. In addition to receiving certificates, each individual was given the instrument they learnt to play.

Chairman of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation and Mayor of Spanish Town, Councillor Norman Scott who was present, said in his greeting, that learning to play an instrument is not really easy and he was truly impressed that the group only participated for (16) days and played so remarkably well.

He congratulated the participants and implored them to make the best of what they learnt going forward.  He commended Food for the Poor (Jamaica) for conceptualizing this initiative and urged them to continue to mould the lives of the young people and communities across Jamaica.

He made a special request of the management of Food for the Poor for the 2018 graduating group to perform at the Heritage Week Civic Celebration to be held in Emancipation Square, Spanish Town this October.
