Youth Summer Employment Programme Orientation Successfully Held
Following the launch of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development’s Youth Summer Employment Programme at the Jamaica College auditorium on Thursday, August 8, scores of persons from within the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation’s Divisions and the Portmore Municipality came out for the orientation on Monday, August 14, at the New Life Worship Centre, Dela Vega City, Spanish Town.
The orientation which was spearheaded by the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation was primarily to educate on the information gathering process of the functions to be undertaken. This includes street lights auditing, missing street signs and identifying vulnerable persons within communities who may require assistance during periods of natural disasters and other forms of emergencies.
Subsequent to the presentations, individuals were presented with packages consisting of:
Missing street name signs data collection form
Data for emergency assistance referral form (and)
Street Light Data Collection form
In addressing the group, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation Mr. Andre Griffiths said in order for the effective and successful running of the programme throughout the period, the best behavior from everyone is important. He said, persons should be mindful that they will be going out there to represent the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation and the Portmore Municipality and its pertinent information they are going out to gather. He implored them to do so devotedly as the information gathered will be beneficial to all.
The programme is expected to run for four (4) weeks, the remainder of August into September 2017.
