What's in the Pipeline for Old Harbour Bay?
As the Old Harbour population continues to fast grow with housing developments going up all over the region, the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation (SCMC) also has ambitious plans for the Old Harbour Bay community – chiefly the standardization of occupants operating in the Market Complex and the restoration of the Marine Terminal Beach.
Subsequent to a meeting to discuss the situation with the market complex occupants in June 2017, an unofficial tour was conducted at the Terminal Beach with a view of getting first hand view of what exists there.
On the tour were Acting Business Development Officer Althea Matthews, Commercial Services Manager Mr. Upton Fisher, Councillor for the Old Harbour South Division, Lloyd Grant and Commercial Services Department Secretary Kalice Basco.
There is an assumption that a base for interest and enthusiasm needs to be provided and the Market Complex and the Marine Terminal Beach can be a centre of greatness and a community hub in Old Harbour Bay. It’s all about getting the necessary persons on board to make it a reality.
The Corporation is still awaiting word from Tourism Enhancement Fund regarding the Marine Terminal Beach.
