Handing Over of Wheelchairs – St. Catherine Infirmary
‘Splendid days’ are what the St. Catherine Infirmary has been seeing for the past two years to present, as extensive rehabilitative, upgrading and beautification works continues in and around the historic building at 14 Monk Street, Spanish Town.
Members of staff, residents and visitors alike, are delighted at the work being done, that has given the building and the property a well deserved facelift; thanks to the efforts of the St. Catherine Parish Council.
On Thursday, June 23, several residents and members of staff gathered in the recreational area where approximately (20) brand new wheelchairs sat labeled with the names of the recipients. The chairs were officially handed over by the Chairman of the St. Catherine Parish Council and Mayor of Spanish Town, Councillor Norman Scott.
“The Infirmary presently has (135) residents, many of whom are incapacitated, making it very difficult for the staff to be moving and lifting them around, so the chairs will make the job of the staff much easier, said Mayor Scott.
The Mayor was also presented a certificate of appreciation from Matron Keisha Miller-Wain, in recognition of his contribution to the St. Catherine Infirmary. The presentation was made by Nurse Aid Mrs. Carol Archer.
The St. Catherine Parish Council continues in its efforts to providing a safe, clean and loving environment for residents of the Infirmary.
