SASHING CEREMONY - ST. CATHERINE FESTIVAL QUEEN COMPETITION

The Sashing Ceremony for the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's Annual Festival Queen Competition was held at the Rodney Memorial, Emancipation Square, Spanish Town on Saturday, April 29, 2017, under the distinguished patronage of the Mayor of Spanish Town, Councillor Norman Scott.
 
Nine contestants from within the communities of Old Harbour, Portmore and Spanish Town are contesting to represent the parish as cultural ambassadors at the grand coronation, scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 21 at Eltham High School, Spanish Town at 6p.m.
Ms. Patricia Harris, Councillor for the Angels Division represented and spoke on behalf of the mayor who was unavoidably absent.

In his message the mayor encouraged the ladies, as they strive to fulfill their purpose and guarantee their success, to see their purpose and understand their obstacles. He said they are to create a positive mental picture, clear their minds of self-doubt, embrace the challenge, stay on track, and show the world they can soar to the utmost.
