 ST. CATHERINE FESTIVAL QUEEN SASHING RECEPTION
 
Miss St. Catherine Festival Queen reception and sashing was held yesterday Sunday, May 01, 2016 at the Rodney Memorial, Emancipation Square, Spanish Town under the patronage of His Worship the Mayor, Councillor Norman Scott, Mayor of Spanish Town.
 
The event which is an annual one, and was scheduled to commence at 6pm commenced an hour later.  But as it turned out, the programme flowed smoothly and  as the Chairman took charge, the time gone was barely noticed.
 
Approximately 11 contestants were sashed and will later on vie for the title of becoming the Cultural Ambassador for the parish of St. Catherine.
 
Rochelle Bowen is Miss St. Catherine Parish Council; she was sashed by Mayor Scott. Other contestants were sashed by sponsors consistent with how they were drawn from the basket provided.
 
Come Sunday  May 22, 2016 the ceremony for selection of the cultural queen will be held at the Spanish Town Primary School, 1A White Church Street, Spanish Town at 6:00 p.m., and all are invited.
 
The St. Catherine Festival Queen Competition is a JCDC endorsed event.  Title sponsor is  the St. Catherine Coop Credit Union.  Other sponsors are Urban Development Corporation, Rodney Memorial, Kutriments, Roberts Funeral Home, Jamaica Energy Partners, Curves, LASCO, National Housing Trust, Heart College of Beauty Services and of course the St. Catherine Parish   Council.
