Commissioning of the Watermount Pumping Station
On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, the Ministers Desmond McKenzie and Dr. Christopher Tufton along with the Mayor of Spanish Town, Councillor Norman Scott commissioned into operation the Watermount Rural Supply System.
More than 7000 residents in the Watermount and surrounding communities (Mendez, Back Pastures, Cudjoe’s Hill, Old Works, Pedro) will benefit from the system.
Mayor Scott said that the commissioning of the Watermount Supply System signals the Municipal Corporation’s resolve that the people of St. Catherine must be given access to clean and safe potable water at all times. He urged residents to pay their water bills, highlighting that the water is not free and its provision comes at a cost.
The Watermount Pumping Station is being operated and maintained by the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.
