Primary Schools Visit Emancipation Square
Emancipation Square Spanish Town is one of the most scenic and impressive squares in St. Catherine and by far, the entire country. Schools from within and outside of the parish continue to make numerous trips, not only to see the ancient brick buildings and Georgian structures, but also to learn about Spanish Town’s historic heritage and the functions of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.
As part of the Spanish Town Heritage Tourism effort, and educating on its roles and functions, a tour of the square and heritage sites was conducted on Thursday, March 16 and Friday, March 17 respectively; students of the Southboro and Tredegar Park Primary Schools were hosts.
Over one hundred and sixty (160) students with teachers were on the excursion, both days. There is no doubt they left with greater understanding of this Corporation’s functions and fresh knowledge of Spanish Town’s rich history.
The St. Catherine Municipal Corporation continues to host school visits and tours, available for all year groups.
