DUHANEY PARK PRIMARY SCHOOL VISITS ST. CATHERINE PARISH COUNCIL
The St. Catherine Parish Council’s meeting room at Emancipation Square, Spanish Town was yesterday, filled with beaming faces as grade four students with teachers from the Duhaney Park Primary School in St. Andrew ambled around trying to take pictures and view the artifacts in the historic old house of assembly.
The students were fervent in asking questions and were extremely attentive in listening. At the end of the session, one boy acknowledged that he was happy to have visited the Council because he had learnt a lot. He said “one thing that stood out in his mind was that forty one parish Councillors attend monthly meetings here in the Chamber to ensure matters concerning the parish are dealt with”.
The Council has always accommodated students from various schools within the parish who would come in to learn about the roles and functions of the Parish Council and perhaps meet with the Mayor, providing he is available.
Duhaney Park Primary is the first school outside of the parish, in recent years, who has visited the Council on an educational tour.
The St. Catherine Parish Council continues in its effort to provide effective, top quality service to all.
