St. Catherine Municipal Corporation stages Town Hall meeting at SDC Complex
 
The St Catherine Municipal Corporation staged a Town Hall Meeting at the Social Development Complex, 1 Port Henderson Road, Spanish Town on Monday January 28, 2019.
 
The meeting was planned on the premise of putting forward the concerns of crime and violence and other issues affecting the Old Capital.
 
Chairman of the meeting, Councillor Alric Campbell of the Edgewater Division said the consultation presents an opportunity for persons from the business entity and residents on a whole, to hear from and interact with key players within the area, as to what could help to remedy the vexed problem of crime and violence in Spanish Town, despite the recently imposed State of Emergency in sections of St. Catherine, and charting the way forward.

Among the panelists present were Mr. Fitz Jackson, Member of Parliament and Opposition Spokesperson on National Security, Mr. Radcliffe Myers representing the St. Catherine Parish Development Committee, Ms. Eulette Gaynor, Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge, St. Catherine (North), and Councillor Norman Scott, Chairman of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation and Mayor of Spanish Town.  Dr. Peter Phillips, Leader of the Opposition was Specially Guest.
 
Mayor of Portmore, Leon Thomas, stakeholders from the business community, Justices of the Peace, Councillors and representatives from the Taxi Association were also present.
