EARTHQUAKE AWARENESS MONTH 2023
January is observed as Earthquake Awareness Month; however, January 8-14, 2023 was recognized as Earthquake Awareness Week under the theme “Drop, cover, hold…. Earthquake Readiness is within your control”
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) in collaboration with the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation (STCMC), Ministry of Education Youth and Information (MOEYI) and the St. Catherine Fire Brigade conducted an Earthquake Simulation Day exercise on Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Lluidas Vale Primary School.
The purpose of the drill was to sensitize the students, teachers and staff on how to be safe during an earthquake.
