Christmas is indeed the most wonderful time of the year and the Mayor of Spanish Town surely pulled out all the stops to ensure that the scores of children, the young, not so young and young at heart experience the joy that this time of year truly brings, in the decorated Emancipation Square, on December 11 at the staging of his annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Children’s Treat, and Concert.
It was an afternoon of shared fun and excitement with lots of prizes and surprises and giveaways courtesy of West Indies Home Contractor’s (WIHCON) and New Era Homes.
Then it was time for the concert and tree lighting, which kicked off at a late yet comfortable start but was barely noticed when MC Markland ‘Action” Edwards of RJR took the stage.
The entertainment package saw performances from The Portmore Chorale, Ascott Primary Lubert Levy, Food for the Poor Band, The Jamaica Folk Singers, Dynamic and Ed Haadie Dancers. Nadine the ‘golden goddess’ Sutherland closed the show with sweet hits from the 90’s which had patrons grooving to the mellow music.
Mayor Scott said he was pleased to see the massive turn out of not only children but adults who came to enjoy the evening’s activities. He extended much appreciation to everyone and wished for them all a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Other sponsors include Jamaica Public Service Company Ltd., St. Catherine Coop. Credit Union, Jamaica Energy Partners, CARICOM Development Ltd., Barretts Cambio, Restaurants of Jamaica, Trade Winds Citrus, Morgan’s Funeral Home, Victory Drug Store and Gore Development.
