ST. CATHERINE OFFICIAL ROAD OPENING CEREMONY
The St. Catherine Parish Council with the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development had an official opening of two roads in the parish on Wednesday, January 28, 2015; the Springvale road in North Central St. Catherine and Kelly Pen Road in South West St. Catherine respectively.
The rehabilitation of both roads are long overdue residents in both communities declared and they did not hesitate to express the joy of having ‘new roads’ to enjoy.
“The deplorable condition of this road has drastically reduced the attendance at the Springvale Primary school and for years numerous letters have been sent and verbal requests made for assistance. I am now extremely happy to see that our years of lobbying for the rehabilitation of the road have finally bore fruit and now everyone especially the students can benefit” said Ms. Braham, the Principal of the Springvale Primary School.
At the Kelly Pen Ceremony in Old Harbour Bay, Pastor Sandra Nembhard of the Jamaica Free Baptist Church concurred with the Councillor for the Old Harbour South Division, Peter Davis that Kelly Pen road has not been rehabilitated for thirty-seven years. She said she is truly thankful to have witnessed the restoration of the road and she is sure every resident of the community felt the same.

• Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Sports and Member of Parliament for North Central
St. Catherine, Mrs. Natalie Neita-Headley
• Minister of Local Government and Community Development Hon. Noel Arscott,
• Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government, Mrs. Dionne Jennings along with
other Technical and Administrative representatives from the Ministry
• The St. Catherine Parish Council Technical and Administrative team headed by the
Actg. Superintendent of Roads and Works, Mr. Everton Ricketts
• Councillors from various divisions (and)
• A host of community residents and well-wishers
The St. Catherine Parish Council continues to look after the infrastructural needs of the parish.
