New Ward to house Social Cases at St. Catherine Infirmary Underway

Mid September 2017 was the official ground breaking for construction of a new ward on the St. Catherine Infirmary premises, the section that houses the old chapel.

The construction, which began in early November, is currently ongoing despite inclement and continuing weather conditions.

The ward is to help the St Catherine Municipal Corporation provide alternative accommodation for (26) social cases from the Spanish Town Hospital, and the Ministry of Health, through its agency, National health Fund, is on board.  The symbolic cheque of Four Million Dollars ($4M) was presented by Minister of Health, Dr. Christopher Tufton at the ground breaking.

The St. Catherine Municipal Corporation’s Roads and Works Department continues to manage and oversee the construction works and looks forward to its completion.
